Coal face consolidation
Description of the problem
When the coal face is crossing a line of faults the face tends to become destabilised at right angles to fault. This leads to coal spillage, which in turn causes roof falls. Coal production has to be halted as a result.
The affected area has to be reinforced in order to prevent disorders of this kind.

Treatment begins with the drilling of injection holes according to a pre-established pattern depending on the local strata conditions. These holes are drilled in such a way that the product can be injected into both the coal face and the roof of the seam.
The holes are fitted with injection pipes and gland seals, through which the product is delivered using a metering pump and mixing gun.
The fluid mixture of the two components migrates into the smallest cracks and fissures.
The high adhesive strength and flexibility developed by the product after polymerisation ensures effective strata cohesion.
The coal face is re-stabilised and coal winning can commence again.
